The Learning Circle Project: Broken Promise

‘The Broken Promise’ is a film by Camfed’s Learning Circle project in Ghana that addresses the traditional practice of fostering in the Northern region of Ghana, and follows the story of one young fostered girl who was supported to return to school with Camfed’s help.

Camfed’s Learning Circle project is a participatory filmmaking venture, based in northern Ghana, involving a group of local women and young girls who are all experiencing the harsh realities of discrimination either because of their disability, lack of education and poverty or through their work with marginalised communities. The group makes films on pressing social issues that affect their lives and screens them in the local community to stimulate debate and change.
